Easy to Make Festive Cupcake Toppers Made with Ribbon and Toothpicks for Cinco de Mayo or Colorful Events

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today's tutorial is on making these cute Cinco de Mayo cupcake toppers. They're so easy to do with just remnants of different ribbon colors you might have around the house and some toothpicks.

There's nothing like having a Cinco de Mayo party with a cupcake stand tower or dessert table filled with fabulous cupcakes in bright colors.

For our toothpicks we used some longer ones we had which make them stand up nice and tall out of the cupcake. They were slightly flat as well that made it easy to tie the piece of ribbon to make the cupcake toppers. See below for the easy instructions for these Cinco de Mayo Cupcake Toppers. They'd also be fun for any vibrant wedding, bridal shower or birthday party anytime of the year.

For this event, it was a Cinco de Mayo puppy party. We used White Glitter Cupcake Wrappers for a nice clean look that really helped to make the colors pop on these little pupcakes and made these very vibrant Cinco de Mayo cupcake toppers.

1. Find or buy a variety of different colored ribbon that you'd like to use. Cut into approximately 3" lengths (i.e. a length easy to tie).

2. Use toothpicks, we prefered longer toothpicks for a taller cupcake topper. Begin to tie one piece of ribbon at a time to the toothpick and push them up to the top. If you do not have tie in your toothpick or anything to stop it you might need to be careful it doesn't slide off.

3. Continue to add as many pieces of ribbon as you'd like, then trim as desired. Insert in your cupcake and your all set to give your cupcakes the pop of color you desire.

We used a glitter white cupcake wrapper but you can also use a variety of cupcake liner wrap colors for an even more vibrant cupcake display. Try Blue Cupcake Wraps, Orange Cupcake Wrappers, Purple Cupcake Holders, and Red Cupcake Wrappers.
